iPhone 3G
Okay, so this is the big week for all us Appleheads: the release of the much-hyped iPhone 3G. Yes, I know it is the same iPhone with a few new features. Yes, I know that it does not support MMS. And, yes, I know that the much touted new feature, 3G, is neither universally covered nor universally accepted. But, will it stop me from purchasing one? No. I do not know what it is about Apple (maybe my Macbook Pro is brainwashing me) but ever since I became an Applehead, I feel this overwhelming sense of compulsion to purchase their new products. For me, when Apple says I can do something, it can be done. When I was under Microsoft's banner, I was always told that I could do all these wonderful things, which I guess would theoretically be possible, but not without extensive knowledge in C++ or HTML programming. I guess it is like a promise kept. Apple promises me things and keeps these promises whereas Microsoft breaks their promise. And, in turn, I feel that someone who keeps their promise should be rewarded in turn. I know many folks discount Apple for their ease of use but to me, this is the beauty of Apple. It is simple and elegant; so simple, in fact, that my 4 year old son can operate the iPhone. I would like to see if he could operate a Blackberry. And, although I know there may be people who have switched from Apple back to Microsoft, I have never heard of any of them; whereas I hear about many converts in the reverse order on a daily basis. So, the iPhone 3G will be releasing at 8 AM on July 11, 2008. That is this Friday. And, I will definitely be in line. Link(s): Apple
